We all love a good, original concept when it comes time to see a movie. The problem is, everyone know’s we’ll all fall hook line and sinker for another “Harry Potter” or “Iron Man” movie. Transformers, Fast and the Furious, Pirates of the Carribean, the list goes on and on. Movie franchises sell, and sell, and sell.
Here are just some of the franchise releases from the second half of 2011 and first half of 2012:
- Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II
-

Men in Black, MIB 4
- Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
-

League of Avengers: The Avengers
- Batman: The Dark Knight Rises
-

James Bond: Skyfall
-

Lord of the Rings – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
-

Alien: (AVP, AVPII, etc.) Prometheus
- Jason Bourne: The Bourne Legacy (without Matt Damon, who’s going to watch that?)
- The Expendables: Expendables II
- Spiderman: Spiderman 4 (reboot)
- Cars: Cars 2
- Happy Feet: Happy Feet 2
- Kung Fu Panda: Kung Fu Panda 2
- Taken: Taken 2
- Ice Age: Continental Drift
- Madagascar: Europe’s Most Wanted
As you can see, this incomplete list is just getting a little ridiculous. Sequels and prequels and series and franchises, oh my. Hollywood has a serious epidemic lack of originality!
