2012, the Year of Movie Franchises!

We all love a good, original concept when it comes time to see a movie. The problem is, everyone know’s we’ll all fall hook line and sinker for another “Harry Potter” or “Iron Man” movie. Transformers, Fast and the Furious, Pirates of the Carribean, the list goes on and on. Movie franchises sell, and sell, and sell.

Here are just some of the franchise releases from the second half of 2011 and first half of 2012:

  1. Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II
  2. Men in black 09 4 1
    Men in Black, MIB 4
  3. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
  4. New movie trailers 2012
    League of Avengers: The Avengers
  5. Batman: The Dark Knight Rises
  6. Skyfall logo
    James Bond: Skyfall
  7. The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Wallpapers 1
Lord of the Rings – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
  8. Prometheus movie poster
    Alien: (AVP, AVPII, etc.) Prometheus
  9. Jason Bourne: The Bourne Legacy (without Matt Damon, who’s going to watch that?)
  10. The Expendables: Expendables II
  11. Spiderman: Spiderman 4 (reboot)
  12. Cars: Cars 2
  13. Happy Feet: Happy Feet 2
  14. Kung Fu Panda: Kung Fu Panda 2
  15. Taken: Taken 2
  16. Ice Age: Continental Drift
  17. Madagascar: Europe’s Most Wanted

As you can see, this incomplete list is just getting a little ridiculous. Sequels and prequels and series and franchises, oh my. Hollywood has a serious epidemic lack of originality!
