Since it seems like everyone has been getting sick these last few weeks, we figured you could use some more help in beating this nasty sickness going around.
We’ve seen people on Facebook everywhere from New York to Chicago, to St. Louis, to San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco complaining this week about being sick! It seems like everybody is coming down with something.
Here are some more remedies to help you beat the nasty and get back on your feet!
Lifestyle Treatments

Lifestyle treatments are things you can do with your schedule and food habits during this time to either avoid getting sick or get better faster.
Here are some that everyone should be doing if they care about their health.
- Drink lots of water. Lots. More than 8 glasses a day, and only water counts. No, juice and tea are not water, because your body has to clean all that stuff out of the water in order to get to the water, and that only takes energy away from your immune system. Water is water, and that’s what you need right now. Spring water is ideal if you can get it.
- Drink hot beverages. As long as you are drinking your water, it’s fine to have some tea, and is actually really good for you. Echinacea tea is great for you, so is lemon and honey mixed in hot water.
- Get tons of rest. Sleep. During the day. Take lots of naps, and go to bed early. Your immune system takes the back seat when you’re awake, and only really gets fired up when you’re asleep. This is why you tend to get fevers at night. Fevers are a tool that your body uses to literally burn the virus and bacteria to death.

- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. When you’re sick, it is not a good time (nor is it ever a good time) to eat twinkles, Oreos, chips, or soda. All of those things are always bad for you, and when you’re sick, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot.
Wash your hands frequently, especially after blowing your nose.
Germs are transmitted from person to person usually through your hands by physical contact. More germs are transmitted by a simple handshake than by making out with someone, in fact!
A Couple More Supplement Remedies
Here are some things you can take to help you get better faster.
Elderberry

Like Echinacea, Elderberry is known for the way it boosts your immune system’s strength when you take it. You can get Elderberry tea from the grocery store, or get Elderberry pills or drops from either the grocery store or the health food store. They may even carry them at your local corner pharmacy.
Ginseng
Both Siberian Ginseng and American Ginseng are good for you, and have been proven to reduce the symptoms of the common cold. These are cure-type supplements, so you should probably not be taking them regularly. Taking them as a medicine in the case of a cold, however, is just what they were made for.

Taken when you are exposed to a cold, Ginseng has been proven to significantly reduce your chances of catching the sickness in the first place.
If you buy the commercial boxed cold remedy, ColdFx®, you are buying boxed Ginseng in a different label and being charged through the nose for it! So, just get some Ginseng tea or pills or drops and take that instead. It’ll save you money and make you feel better too.
Remember, the same goes for Zinc and Zicam®! Pharmaceutical companies are catching on that these remedies actually work, and so are trying to produce boxed and branded “solutions” to sell you at exorbitant prices that are in fact the same vitamins and minerals and herbs people have been taking for centuries!
Chamomile Tea

Chamomile Tea really works to relax you when you just can’t relax. Drink a cup when you’re feeling stressed out, or when you’re just trying to get to sleep. It’s a lot healthier than NyQuil, and won’t do anything else to your body. It beats having to take a drug to get to sleep!
Enjoy, and we hope these remedies help you get well soon!
