Every year, millions of Americans flock to local (and not-so-local) Fireworks displays to celebrate their independence. Some towns put on Fireworks displays that put the rest to shame. Here are some of the best.
If there’s any way at all you can make it to the Washington D.C. Fireworks show, you need to do so. The city puts on a mind-blowingly impressive fireworks show every Independence Day right in the heart of our nation’s Capitol, over the Washington Monument. It truly is a sight to behold.
The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California
When you think of the Rose Bowl, you probably think of sports, like football and soccer. Believe it or not, the Rose Bowl is actually home to one heck of an impressive fireworks show on Independence Day evening. The stadium says it spends about $400,000 every year on the show, and only tries to break even and cover its costs with admission. Tickets cost only $13 each, and give you a perfect view of the more than 5,000 fireworks they plan to set off!
Fort Bragg, North Carolina
One of the major U.S. Military bases in the United States, Fort Bragg is home to thousands of soldiers and their families. It’s no surprise, then, to find out that they are some of the most patriotic people in the nation. When they celebrate Independence Day, you don’t want to miss it. The base used to be private, only allowing soldiers and their families to attend the display, but recently opened up to the civilian population. The Fort Bragg display is expected to run for a full hour of nonstop fireworks and patriotic music!
The busy suburb of Addison, “Kaboom Town” Texas is home to two important things—Mary Kay Cosmetics, and one very impressive fireworks show every year. The town puts on a show to remember, spending an average of a quarter of a million dollars every year on the show. Over 400,000 people show up every year for the display, many of whom arrive from out of town and stay in the town’s many hotels and other lodgings. The town says that some hotels completely are getting calls from customers a full six months in advance!
If you thought some of the displays listed above were impressive, listen to this—Boston spends an average of 2.5 Million dollars a year on its Fireworks display! Thats more than ten times what Addison, Texas spends. It’s kind of ridiculous, actually. The city’s citizens even joke about it being a way to watch your tax dollars go up in smoke every year. If you’re in the area, its not something you want to miss!
