With Christmas break almost upon us, many of us will have a lot of spare time and a lot of Christmas spirit. What are some things we can do to pass the time and enjoy the season? We’ve assembled a list of great holiday activities that should help get you started!
Make Several Types of Christmas Cookies

Christmas cookies are best enjoyed at Christmas time, so make a whole bunch of different kinds and enjoy them together. These go particularly well with the holiday movie marathon mentioned above!
Host a Holiday Movie Marathon

Rent, download, borrow, or dig up a collection of great holiday classics and watch them back to back while sipping homemade hot chocolate and nibbling on popcorn or Christmas cookies!
Go Lightseeing

Drive or walk through some of the most decorated neighborhoods in your area – even your own – and see all the great lights and decorations people have put up for the holidays.
Go Snowboarding or Skiing

Christmas break is a great time to go on a snowboarding or skiing trip. Even if you live in a warm climate (like we do), you can often drive to the mountains and enjoy the snow before going back to your palm trees and sand!
Find & Attend Christmas Festivals or Events in Your Area

Virtually all towns and cities have Christmas events scheduled for the holidays. Make a point to check your local newspaper or website for the listings, and go check them out!
Hit Up The After-Christmas Sales

After everyone finishes their Christmas shopping, stores often put virtually everything on sale at great discounts So head-on down to your local mall or shopping center and check out the sales!
Watch Family Videos & Slideshows From The Past

Most of us have at least some collection of family videos lying around, whether they are old VHS tapes, DVDs, YouTube videos, or just clips on our iPhones. Get together and watch some of those videos and relive the memories.
Go Sledding or Snow Tubing

Even if you can’t make it to a mountain to go skiing or snow boarding, you can often find a hilly area with snow where you can go sledding or snow tubing instead. This makes a great outing for the kids and adults alike!
Check Out Local Museums & Art Galleries

With all this spare time, you might enjoy checking out the local museum and gallery scene. Most major cities and even towns have at least some museums and art galleries. Check online to see when they are open and how much (if any) they charge for admission, and plan a visit.
Go Restaurant Hopping – Hit 3+ Great Restaurants In One Day

Go on Yelp (the app or the website) and check out all the great restaurants in your area. Sort by rating and price, and put together a list of the most affordable and highest rated restaurants. Check places with colleges or high populations of young people, hipsters or urbanites for the best restaurants with the lowest prices. We’ve found that college towns tend to have tons of great restaurants at affordable prices. Hit up two or three of them in one day for a restaurant marathon!
See a Christmas Movie Premiere

Every year, at least a few movies tend to premiere on or around Christmas time. Check out Fandango.com to see which movies are premiering near you and go check them out.
Go Christmas Caroling at Old Folks Homes

Last but far from least, Christmas caroling is perhaps the best way to get into the Christmas spirit. For several years, we’ve made it a point to assemble a group of carolers and visit several nursing homes and old folks homes in the area and bring them a healthy dose of Christmas cheer. It’s a genuinely rewarding experience that you should do at least once or twice in your lifetime for sure.
